La Méditerranée est un désert mortel pour celles et ceux qui veulent atteindre les côtes européennes. Au large des côtes libyennes, l’équipage de l’Ocean Viking veille, à la recherche d’embarcations en détresse. Après un sauvetage à hauts risques, naufragés et sauveteurs vivent ensemble sur le bateau, dans l’attente d’un port d’accueil. Ce temps à bord est le premier refuge des rescapés. Avec les sauveteurs, se tisse une relation faite d’écoute, de soin et de présence. Une relation qui est comme un gilet de sauvetage.
