Un vieux, très vieux conte
Dans une auberge se joue un joyeux spectacle de marionnettes. Il y est question d'un royaume où règnent un roi sot et ridicule, une mauvaise sorcière et une méchante princesse, mais aussi un bon enchanteur et un brave soldat et tout finit par s’arranger… mais un second motif complique la situation, apporte tristesse et mélancolie… par ailleurs, une fois le rideau tombé c'est la vie réelle qui commence et les rapports du marionnettiste et de sa bien aimée ne sont pas simples !
