En janvier 1960, Yves Montand et Simone Signoret, l'un des couples de vedettes les plus connus de l'époque, est en tournée aux Etats-Unis. Yves Montand vient de triompher sur les plus grandes scènes du pays. Simone Signoret, qui s'est distinguée dans "Les Chemins de la haute ville", va recevoir un Oscar. C'est alors qu'ils rencontrent Arthur Miller, écrivain et dramaturge mais surtout, à l'époque, mari de Marilyn Monroe, vedette mondiale alors au sommet de sa gloire et de sa beauté. Yves Montand et Marilyn Monroe tombent amoureux et l'actrice fait tout pour tourner un film avec le Français. C'est ainsi qu'ils vont se retrouver sur le plateau du film "Le Milliardaire".
