Teng Piao (Ti Lung) est condamné à 15 ans de prison pour trafic d’opium suite à un coup monté. Avant de se faire arrêter par la police, il tue un second couteau (Wong Yung) non sans lui avoir extorqué le nom de celui qui l’a piégé, Lan Fei, le Léopard Noir. Sa peine purgée, Teng Piao n’a qu’une idée en tête, ruminée pendant toutes les années passées derrière les barreaux : se venger. Pour ne jamais se détourner de cet objectif, il décide de conserver aux poignets les chaînes qui l’ont retenu captif.
