Luise et Lotte font connaissance par hasard dans une maison de vacances et se rendent vite compte qu'il s'agit de jumelles séparées après la naissance. Pour savoir pourquoi leurs parents ont décidé de franchir cette étape radicale, les deux filles échangent leurs rôles et font ainsi connaissance avec le parent inconnu. Cela conduit à beaucoup de situations étranges, car les filles se ressemblent, mais elles ont des talents et des capacités différents.
