Objectif Mont Blanc, Sur Les Traces D'Un Géant
Une climatologue, un physicien et un volcanologue partent à l'assaut du plus haut sommet des Alpes. À travers d'exceptionnelles images, le film raconte leur odyssée et révèle l'immense richesse de ce laboratoire naturel. À cheval sur la France, l'Italie et la Suisse, le massif du Mont-Blanc s'est formé il y a 240 millions d'années. Grand comme quatre fois Paris, il s'étend sur 400 km2. Son sommet, le plus haut d'Europe occidentale, culmine à 4 810 mètres. Trois scientifiques entament son ascension : Martine Rebetez, climatologue suisse, Étienne Klein, philosophe et physicien au Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et Jacques-Marie Bardintzeff, géologue et volcanologue. Progressant en deux cordées, ils sont accompagnés par Jean-Franck Charlet et François-Régis Thévenet, guides de haute montagne, ainsi que par le physiologiste Hugo Nespoulet.
