2003 was a big year for AC/DC which included their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to European dates with the Rolling Stones, the band made several high-profile public appearances (including the SARS concert in Toronto for 200,000 people). One run of shows found the band returning to their roots and playing clubs and theaters where fans were treated to sweaty, stripped-down shows and even playing some rarities they hadn't played in years. Pas d'artifices, pas de trucages, pas de chichis : voici De Palmas tel qu'en lui-même, avec le groupe qu'il mène à l'assaut des scènes du pays. Une équipe minimale et suffisante. Les guitares sont pour lui et pour le brillant Sébastien Chouard, qui n'en perd pas une pour lâcher une ou deux bordées mordantes (dans "Si tu veux" il nous sert une rafale salvatrice à la pédale wah-wah). Amaury Blanchard percute en maestro (voir sa prestation dans "Mary Jane"). Quant à David Berland, aux claviers, et à Bernard Viguié, à la basse et aux chœurs, on leur doit l'assise confortable de l'ensemble. Le quintet était au Zénith de Paris le 12 novembre 2001, il passa aussi dans des dizaines de salles hexagonales pour la campagne 2002. Et ce soir-là, comme tous les autres, il délivra avec son émotion incomparable et cette énergie de survie ces chansons de désamours et de séparation. De Palmas et ses hommes visitent ici le répertoire ancien et ramènent ainsi la chanson qui le révéla ("Sur la route").
