Fanny et Alexandre
En Suède, au début du XXe siècle. Helena Ekdahl, propriétaire du théâtre d'Uppsala, a invité sa famille et ses amis pour de somptueuses festivités de Noël. Ses trois fils sont présents, Oscar, comédien médiocre, Gustav Adolf, éternel coureur de jupons, et Carl, un professeur alcoolique. Parmi les petits-enfants qui prennent joyeusement part à la fête, Fanny et Alexandre. Au cours d'une répétition, leur père, Oscar, est victime d'une hémorragie cérébrale. Sa mort soudaine jette la consternation dans la famille Ekdahl. L'évêque Edvard Vergerus célèbre les funérailles. Il séduit Emilie, la jeune veuve, et bientôt l'épouse, au grand effroi des enfants, qui redoutent son puritanisme obsessionnel…
