Des images de l'un des premiers grands concerts de rock donnés en France, au palais des Sports (15e), en 1961, qui mettent en valeur l'ambiance très chaude et les débordements du spectacle. Grâce aux extraits sélectionnés, François Reichenbach reconstitue l'atmosphère des concerts du début des sixties. Il dépasse l'événement pour faire de ce documentaire le véritable reflet d'un phénomène de société. Parmi les principales séquences: des policiers intervenant pour contenir un public déchaîné. De nombreux groupes de rock sont également filmés, parmi lesquels celui de Vince Taylor, alors jeune débutant.
