D’une montagne enneigée en passant par une mer étoilée, d’une ville tranquille à un océan agité, les héros de ces films transportent le spectateur dans leurs histoires joyeuses et poétiques, pour la plupart empreintes d’une magie toute hivernale. "Curieusement, même s’il était très respecté et aujourd’hui considéré comme l’un des meilleurs chanteurs de soul blues de l’histoire, Bobby “Blue” Bland n’était finalement pas si connu que cela au-delà des rangs des amateurs de musiques afro-américaines. Quant à la presse française, si on excepte Le Monde pour un article assez convenu, elle n’a guère fait écho de la disparition de l’artiste le 23 juin 2013 à l’âge de 83 ans. Né Robert Calvin Brooks, celui-ci voit le jour le 27 janvier 1930 dans une municipalité non constituée comme on dit aux States (unincorporated community), nommée Rosemark et située environ 20 km au nord-est de Memphis. Son père quitte la famille dès l’enfance et le jeune Robert est élevé par sa mère qui se remarie en 1936 avec Leroy Bridgeforth qui se fait également appeler Leroy Bland, un nom qui sera donc adopté par le chanteur.
