Lorsqu’ils débutent leur carrière en 1979 dans la petite ville anglaise de Basildon, les quatre musiciens de Depeche Mode sont à mille lieues d’imaginer qu’ils deviendront un jour les idoles d’une génération entière d’Allemands prisonniers du Rideau de fer. Moins de dix ans plus tard, en Allemagne de l’Est, leurs cassettes valent de l’or et les fan-clubs sont légion. La zone d’occupation soviétique devient hystérique lorsque le groupe est invité pour un concert unique à Berlin-Est. Organisé en mars 1988 par le mouvement étatique de la Jeunesse libre allemande, le spectacle offre un instant d’une intensité incroyable aux 6 500 privilégiés qui ont obtenu le précieux sésame.

This was a storm that was going to change lives.
