Bresson ne souhaitait pas qu'on lui consacre une émission rétrospective. Il fut vite décidé que ce serait surtout une conversation pendant laquelle il essaierait d'aller au fond des choses, il expliquerait sa conception très personnelle de l'art cinématographique. Bresson parle, au présent. On ne voit pas un cinéaste qui tourne, on écoute un cinéaste qui réfléchit.
