Le 6 mars 2013, aux alentours de 20 heures, le corps de David Rossi, directeur de la communication de la banque italienne Monte dei Paschi di Siena, la plus ancienne du monde, est retrouvé sans vie sur le trottoir. Une caméra de surveillance a filmé sa chute mortelle. S’agit-il d’un suicide ou d’un meurtre ? L’homme connaissait-il les dessous des affaires qui ont éclaboussé l’établissement dans lequel il travaillait ? Une chose est sûre : deux jours avant le drame, David Rossi avait exprimé par e-mail le souhait de parler avec un juge. Depuis, à l’instar de nombreux établissements financiers européens, la Monte dei Paschi di Siena traverse une crise profonde. Construit comme un polar, ce film analyse les causes de cette descente aux enfers et les procédés, parfois hasardeux, employés par les banques de la zone euro pour échapper à la liquidation.
