Claudio, ouvrier dans le bâtiment, travaille sur un chantier dans la banlieue de Rome. Il est très amoureux de sa femme, enceinte de leur troisième enfant. Un drame inattendu va soudain bouleverser l'insouciance de cette vie simple et heureuse. Pour survivre, Claudio va affronter avec rage l'injustice intime et sociale qui le touche. Le soutien de sa famille, de ses amis et l'amour de ses enfants vont l'aider à réussir le pari de la vie.
