Kang Il est un pompier dont la femme est morte. Aux prises avec la culpabilité de n'avoir sauvé sa femme, Kang Il se met constamment en danger pour sauver les autres. Mi Su, médecin dans un hôpital général, fait un diagnostic erroné et se fait poursuivre en justice par le mari de la patiente. Menacée de perdre sa licence médicale, l'avocat de Mi Su lui conseille de convaincre Kang Il de témoigner contre le mari de la patiente pour une agression qui a eu lieu alors que le mari était en deuil. Ne parvenant pas à ses fins, elle décide de le séduire. Cependant, Kang Il ne se laisse pas attendrir et Mi Su décide de devenir ambulancier bénévolement chez les pompiers pour travailler aux côtés Kang Il afin de se rapprocher de lui. Malgré la relation initiale plutôt tendue, ils tombent progressivement amoureux. Mais Kang Il a du mal à refouler ses souvenirs et leur relation s'effondre lorsqu'il découvre la vraie raison pour laquelle Mi Su s'est rapprochée de lui.
