Le Caporal épinglé
En juin 1940, la France est vaincue par les Allemands et un armistice est signé. Cinq soldats français des « Corps francs » sont internés dans un camp de prisonniers de guerre pour soldats (« stalag ») : Caruso, l'Électricien, Émile dit « Penche-à-gauche », Ballochet, Papa et... le Caporal. Dès les premiers jours de sa captivité, le Caporal manifeste déjà un trait essentiel de son caractère : c'est un maniaque de l'évasion. Une première tentative, à laquelle participent à ses côtés Ballochet et Papa, ne parvient même pas à dépasser le mur d'enceinte du camp. Au fur et à mesure de leurs tentatives d'évasion, un sentiment de résignation s'installe parmi leurs camarades, et leurs liens se brisent. Ces échecs ne découragent pas le Caporal et Papa. Et les tentatives continuent...
