Bert Kalmar, danseur et prestidigitateur, doit abandonner la scène après une mauvaise fracture du genou. C’est sa rencontre avec un pianiste inconnu, Harry Ruby, qui va lui permettre de remonter la pente. De cette rencontre, naît une amitié sincère ponctuée de hauts et de bas qui débouche, après dix années de collaboration, sur la création d’une chanson « Three Little Words ».

Axé sur la papauté de Jean-Paul II et l'impact considérable qu'il a eu sur l'Église et le monde, ce film met en vedette l'acteur Piotr Adamczyk dans un portrait profondément émouvant du pontife bien-aimé. Il s'agit de l'histoire vraie et puissante d'un leader spirituel charismatique qui a contribué à faire tomber le communisme, à renouveler la vie de l'Église, à insuffler aux jeunes du monde entier l'amour du Christ, et d'un pape qui a tendu la main aux autres religions et aux dirigeants du monde entier avec un message de paix et d'amour. Le film met également en vedette Raoul Bova (Saint François), Michele Placido (Padre Pio : Between Heaven and Earth) et Adriana Asti dans le rôle de Mère Teresa. La magnifique musique de film est signée du légendaire compositeur Ennio Morricone.
