Nantes, 1943. Antoine et Jean, deux jeunes resistants, sont inséparables. Ils aiment Marie-Ann, mais seul Antoine est aimé d'elle. Un soir, Antoine est chargé d'abattre un officier allemand qui détient des documents à délivrer à la Gestapo. La réussite ou non de cette mission est le pivot du film. L'histoire qui suit est coupée en deux : que se passerait-il si Antoine échouait? Et s'il réussissait?

Araki faces extreme hostility from the Japanese public, who find it hard to believe that most followers of the cult had no idea of the attacks and even harder to understand why these followers remain devoted to the religion, if not the violence.
