Tout le monde connaît Raymond Poulidor. La popularité de ce coureur cycliste dépasse de loin son palmarès. Pendant 15 ans, il a participé au Tour de France sans jamais remporter l'épreuve ou endosser le maillot jaune. Cependant, il a fini à huit reprises sur le podium. C'est là qu'est née sa réputation d'éternel second. Mais Poulidor est avant tout un champion attachant, apprécié pour son charme, son accent du Limousin et sa discrétion. Si tout a concouru à l'empêcher de gagner : coups du sort, rivalité étouffante avec Jacques Anquetil ou apparition du terrible Eddy Merckx, il reste l'un des cyclistes les plus connus et les plus appréciés.
