Le roi Miroslav demande en mariage la princesse Krasomila. Elle refuse. Il se deguise alors en jardinier et vient travailler a la cour du vieux pere de Krasomila. La princesse devra rabaisser son orgueil afin que le jardinier lui apprenne a cultiver les roses chantantes.
