Chine, années 30. Biao (Liu Chia Liang) est chef d'équipe dans une société de transport d'objets de grande valeur qu'il protège grâce à sa maîtrise des arts martiaux. Il découvre un jour que les faibles revenus que ce travail procure ont poussé son frère à faire du trafic d'opium avec des Occidentaux. Avant qu'il ait pu contacter les autorités, il est battu et laissé pour mort... il est finalement recueilli par une jeune paysanne. Un an plus tard, deux étudiants partent à sa recherche afin d'apprendre la boxe du singe. Leur découverte ravivera la haine de ses ennemis...
