Les colons de Sunshire valley sont en pénurie de vivres et de médicaments. Gene Autry et Dan Coleman achètent du ravitaillement à l'autre bout de la vallée, mais le complément promis par Lola Riker et Ross McLain, propriétaires du seul magasin de la ville, n'arrive pas. Gene et Smiley organisent une expédition pour récupérer le ravitaillement bloqué par McLain, mais une petite fille, Judy' meurt par manque de médicaments et Gene est alors déterminé à affronter McLain.
