John Kinsdale est concepteur de systèmes de sécurité et de défense de très haute technologie pour le compte de l'OTAN. Expatrié à Naples avec sa femme et ses trois enfants, il coule des jours heureux entre son foyer et un travail passionnant. Mais un soir, tout bascule : sa famille est assassinée par un mystérieux groupuscule d'extrême gauche qui ne tarde pas à faire d'autres victimes parmi les ressortissants américains présents dans la ville. D'abord effondré, Kinsdale va rapidement retrouver une raison de vivre par le biais de la vengeance : il décide d'utiliser les systèmes de pointe qu'il a conçu pour retrouver les assassins et les éliminer...
