Comme le rappelait Schroeter, «j'ai arrangé la musique de Verdi pour un quatuor de violon, accordéon, piano et hautbois, mais j'ai modélisé les rythmes sur des tangos et des boléros argentins ... Les acteurs ont chanté avec des voix horribles et aiguës. moi de produire des couleurs extraordinaires ... De tous mes films, Macbeth était le plus indésirable: les spectateurs n'aiment pas que leur Shakespeare soit présenté de cette manière, mais je ne fais pas de différence entre le kitsch et la culture ... ".
