Amandine n'a que quinze ans. Pourtant, toute seule, elle doit s'occuper de ses quatre frères et soeurs depuis que leur mère a quitté le domicile familial, voilà quelques semaines. Quant au père, trop occupé par son travail sur des chantiers et sa nouvelle conquête, il se contente de brèves apparitions pour donner un peu d'argent à Amandine. Tant bien que mal, celle-ci dissimule au monde extérieur qu'elle-même et ses cadets sont seuls et livrés à eux-mêmes, terrorisée à l'idée que tous soient placés en famille d'accueil.
