Une sombre histoire de sorcellerie et de mysticisme
À la fin du Moyen-Âge, la jeune Margit et sa soeur Katla fuient dans les montagnes après que leur mère ait été brûlée pour sorcellerie. Elles trouvent refuge chez Johann, un paysan veuf qui élève son garçon Jonas. Cependant, Katla utilise ses pouvoirs afin de séduire Johann, ce qui déclenche la colère de Jonas. Pendant ce temps, Margit a des visions de sa défunte mère qui lui apparaît lors de visions, et va peu à peu s'enfoncer dans ce monde mystique.
