L’histoire raconte les 2 années d’entrainement de Luffy avec Silvers Rayleigh (surnommé le Seigneur des Ténèbres) sur l’Île Rusukaina, après la bataille de Marineford et la mort de son frère Ace. Burndy World (Bandy?) surnommé The Destroyer of the World grâce à son fruit du démon MoaMoa, s’est évadé du niveau 6 de la prison de Impel Down (La Grande Prison sous-marine). Les 7 Capitaines Corsaires (Shichibukai) se retrouvent impuissants face à ce nouvel ennemi. Luffy, qui apprend à contrôler son haki, essayera de l’arrêter avec l’aide de Boa Hancock.
