Il a 18 ans et s’appelle David Balko, mais tout le monde l’appelle Dave. Il est en prison parce qu’il a volé des motocyclettes. Tel un caillou au fond d’un baquet d’eau glacée, Dave n’espère plus la liberté – de sa bande, personne ne vient le voir et sa petite amie, Corinna, semble l’avoir abandonné. Les fusibles de son cerveau sont en train de griller. Il décide alors de s’évader. Mais son escapade coûtera la vie d’un homme, Dave vivra désormais un cauchemar permanent. C’est l’histoire d’une quête désespérée du bonheur qui dégénère en destruction nihiliste.
