Une comédie sur les petits maux de la vie
Paul Weaver, 37 ans, ancien joueur de ligue majeure, reconverti en vendeur d'assurances, un travail qu'il déteste, vient de recevoir les papiers du divorce, un an après que sa femme Nancy Weaver l'a quitté pour son infidélité chronique. Nancy s'est installé dans leur maison de campagne avec leurs deux enfants, David et Sarah. Pour le mariage de sa sœur Karen Weaver, Paul conduit de New York à sa petite ville natale en Pennsylvanie, en prévoyant de loger chez ses parents dans son ancienne chambre. Ce qu'il ignore jusqu'à son arrivée, c'est que Nancy et les enfants ont temporairement emménagé dans la maison parentale à cause de la plomberie qui est entièrement à refaire dans la maison de campagne. Dans cette situation, Paul devra faire face aux autres personnes de sa famille, de la communauté qui affrontent comme ils peuvent les difficultés de la vie, de l'amour...
