Afin de toucher un héritage, Nancy Crocker doit épouser un simple citoyen américain. Cette condition, émise par son père avant sa mort, doit faire éviter à la jeune fille de tomber dans les bras d'un gigolo étranger qui lui volerait sa fortune.
