Opération « Y » et d'autres aventures Shurik
Le film se compose de trois parties indépendantes: « Workmate », « déjà vu » et « opération Y ». L'intrigue suit les aventures de Shurik (orthographe alternative - Shourick), l'étudiant soviétique naïf et ringard qui obtient souvent dans des situations grotesques, mais trouve toujours un moyen de sortir très soigneusement. « Opération Y et d'autres aventures de Shurik » était un film à succès et est devenu le leader de la distribution du film soviétique en 1965.

Dans un village au cœur du Kirghizistan, le jeune Esen tombe amoureux de Begimai, la fille d’un chef local. Celui-ci devient rapidement son ennemi et multiplie les coups-bas contre le jeune homme. Dans un accès de colère, Esen commet l’irréparable et détruit un arbre vénéré pour ses pouvoirs sacrés. Chassé du village, il emporte Begimai avec lui mais le couple est bientôt rattrapé par la cavalerie et Esen est lynché par les villageois. Il va devoir alors se reconstruire et aller de l’avant pour reconquérir les siens.

Chourik, un anthropologue un peu naïf, se rend dans le Caucase afin de documenter les coutumes et traditions de la région. Il tombe amoureux de Nina, qui rend visite à son oncle. Cependant, son oncle la promet en mariage sans la mettre au courant. Il organise alors son enlèvement ; après un premier essai infructueux, il convainc Chourik de participer à l’enlèvement, en lui disant qu’il s’agit d’une tradition locale et en prétendant que Nina a donné son accord.
