Chauffeur d'une benne de nettoiement à Arles, Marc-Antoine mêne une vie tranquille auprès de sa femme Mélanie et de ses deux enfants. Quand on vole à Amédée, la «Fanny» du club bouliste, il propose d'en repeindre une autre. Aussitôt l'œuvre terminée, il devient une gloire locale et fier de son génie enfin reconnu, il part avec Hélène, une jeune serveuse, chez son cousin Septime en Camargue. Finalement, il comprendra qu'il n'avait aucun talent et repartira avec Mélanie venue le chercher pour qu'il rentre à la maison
