C'est la Saint-Valentin et la Panthère rose est solitaire et n'a pas d'argent (sauf pour sept cents). Après avoir reçu par erreur le paquet cadeau de la Saint-Valentin d'une autre personne, il se rend au service de messagerie pour un travail mais gâche sa répétition. Il se rend ensuite dans un magasin, achète un lecteur de cassettes et des cassettes préenregistrées avec les sept cents qu'il lui restait et retourne au service de messagerie en mimant la version d'Enrico Caruso de "Vesti la giubba", un air de l'opéra de Ruggero Leoncavallo Pagliacci, et est embauché comme messager.
