"Pour une femme alcoolique, c'est deux fois plus dur que pour un homme... on ne nous le pardonne pas". Ces mots sont ceux de la comédienne Fiona Gélin. Ils disent tout à la fois : l'enjeu et l'urgence de lever le voile sur cette maladie qu'est l'alcoolisme, et sur cette honte, si injuste, qui l'accompagne quand elle touche les femmes. En France, elles seraient entre 500 000 et 1,5 millions de femmes à être dépendantes à l'alcool. Les chiffres sont extrêmement approximatifs tant la culpabilité impose le silence. Ce silence, des femmes courageuses ont accepté de le briser pour se confier à Marina Carrère d'Encausse. Qu'elles soient célèbres, comme Muriel Robin, Fiona Gélin, Noémie Lvovsky, ou inconnues du grand public comme Sylvie, Marianne, Anaïs ou Laurence, elles racontent leur descente aux enfers et leur rédemption.
