1860, Paris, gare de Lyon, M. Perrichon, sa femme Caroline et leur fille Henriette, prennent pour la première fois le train, pour aller en vacances à la montagne découvrir la Mer de Glace, en Haute-Savoie. À la gare, ils sont abordés par deux jeunes hommes, Armand Desroches et Daniel Savary, charmés par Henriette, qui les avait rencontrés à un bal, dans le 8e arrondissement de Paris. M. Perrichon, qui s'est fait toute seul, sans instruction, a décidément tout de l'honnête bourgeois. Mais Il n'imagine pas que les deux prétendants officiels de sa fille donneront à ce séjour une tournure rocambolesque parce que si les trains suivent des rails, les évènements, péripéties et rebondissements empruntent des courbes incontrôlées... Une lumineuse et truculente adaptation de l’œuvre d'Eugène Labiche.
