Devenir roi retrace l’histoire et le quotidien de Cha, un jeune drag king qui, grâce à son art, s'affranchit des normes et explore le genre. Cha a 24 ans. Sur scène, il incarne PowerBeauTom, un artiste à l'énergie débordante qui rompt les barrières du genre. Cha a beaucoup cheminé avant de devenir King. En grandissant, il a progressivement mis des mots sur un sentiment qui l'habite depuis l'enfance : celui de ne pas se conformer au genre qui lui a été assigné à la naissance. En entrant dans le monde Drag, il s’émancipe de codes liés à son éducation et peut explorer sa propre masculinité.
