Deux fois par an, des centaines d'espèces d'oiseaux traversent les continents pour prendre leurs quartiers dans des régions aux conditions plus favorables. La migration est cependant un processus plus complexe qu'il n'y paraît : si les grues ou les combattants variés s'envolent du nord vers le sud au moment d'hiverner, les faucons à pattes rouges quant à eux font le voyage inverse. Sous l'ardent soleil de Namibie, ils se préparent pour un périple vers l'Europe de plus de 80 étapes. Équipés de minuscules balises GPS aussi légères qu'une plume, ce documentaire nous offre des images époustouflantes et nous montre des trajets qui n'avaient jamais été explorés jusqu'alors.
