À l'âge de 14 ans, le réalisateur Nick Broomfield rencontre par hasard le guitariste Brian Jones dans le train. En tant que membre fondateur des Rolling Stones en 1962, Jones était au sommet de son succès, avec le monde à ses pieds. Ce film met en lumière les sept années turbulentes jusqu'en 1969, lorsque Brian Jones doit quitter le groupe. Peu de temps après, il s'est noyé dans sa piscine.
