Horia Colibasanu est dentiste, père de deux garçons et grimpeur d'élite. En 2008, il a refusé d'abandonner, à 7400 mètres sur l'Annapurna, son compagnon malade, l'alpiniste basque Iñaki Ochoa de Olza, mettant sa propre vie en danger. Son action a ébloui la communauté des grimpeurs. Malgré cet incident tragique, il a continué à grimper dans le pur style alpin, sans oxygène supplémentaire. En 2017, l'athlète roumain de 40 ans repartira pour l'Everest, après deux tentatives infructueuses. Pour la première fois, Horia tente une ascension en solitaire.
