Auteur de sculptures monumentales dialoguant avec les paysages où elles s'insèrent, l'artiste Dani Karavan, à l'aube de ses 90 ans, a entrepris un voyage d'adieu à ses œuvres, en Allemagne, en France, en Espagne et en Israël. Avec attention, l'artiste scrute l'état de ses créations et s'inquiète de leur bon entretien. La ville de Cergy et son célèbre Axe majeur représentent l'une des grandes destinations de cet émouvant périple. Les travaux de cette gigantesque œuvre hybride, qui forme une promenade urbaine de plus de 3 kilomètres, ont commencé voilà plus de trente ans, et l'artiste espérait encore en voir aboutir la construction de son vivant. Alors que ses réalisations sont remplies de souvenirs du temps passé, Dani Karavan commence à perdre la mémoire au cours du voyage. Malgré ces premiers signes de faiblesse, l'homme se montre énergique, provocateur et plein d'humour. Un hommage à cet "artiste de la paix" – comme il fut qualifié par l'Unesco –, qui s'est éteint en mai 2021.
