Les géants du ciel
Sur une base américaine en Angleterre, le major Ed Hardin, un ancien des « Tigres volants », est d’un caractère rebelle, mais quand il apprend qu’il va être nommé à la tête de l’escadrille, il est bien décidé à faire appliquer les consignes de vol. Ayant un allié dans le général McCready, il essaie de faire employer de nouvelles tactiques, notamment le largage des « belly tanks » en cas de rencontre avec la chasse adverse et l’utilisation du P-47 comme avion d’attaque au sol, en court-circuitant son supérieur hiérarchique, le général Gilbert. Hardin est descendu lors du débarquement de Normandie, mais son exemple encourage les hommes de l’escadrille à redoubler d’ardeur au combat.

Araki faces extreme hostility from the Japanese public, who find it hard to believe that most followers of the cult had no idea of the attacks and even harder to understand why these followers remain devoted to the religion, if not the violence.
