Inspiré de l’histoire de l’ingénieur de vol de la NASA José Hernández, ce film suit ce dernier et sa famille immigrant depuis un village du Michoacán, au Mexique, jusqu’à la Station spatiale internationale à 300 km au-dessus de la Terre. Avec le soutien de sa famille, la détermination de José lui donne enfin la possibilité d’atteindre ce but à première vue irréalisable.
